Hi All,
So this is Ana and I am a DJ at the student radio WVAU.org - You should always be able to listen to it online by accessing wvau.org and clicking on the blue link on your top left "Listen Live Now". Since I am from Riode Janeiro (Brazil) my first idea for this radio show was to bring foreign artists' music (from all over the world) to the AU campus radio. For being an International Relations student very much interested in media usage for advocating for Human Rights abuses I started to think about the media tool I had in my hands to talkt about human rights and politics worldwide. With the final project of creating a Human Rights Campaign for the Human Rights and the Media class thought by Professor Rebecca Dewinter-Schmitt, together with Alyssa Piccirilli and Olivia Harrington, we filmed my radio show and made some interviews talking about Human Rights awareness.
As the DJ I would like to put here some albums that are new releases at WVAU radio (on the Rack) that are foreign artists. In case you listen to any WVAU radio show the Dj always has to play at least 10 songs from the Rack (new releases). In case you are a DJ looking for foreign artists to put on your show, here is a list of some of the new foreign releases:
Band / Album / Nationality
- Boys Noize - Power - German
-The Temper Trap - Conditions - Australian
- Signer - Next we bring You the Fire - New Zealand
- The Slits - Trapped Animal - British
- Maserati - Passages - Athens/Georgia
- Joel Plaskett - Three - Nova Scotia (Canadian)
- Pastels and Tenniscoats - Two Sunsets - Scottish
- Air - Love 2 - French
- Noah and the Whale - The First days of Spring - British
- Ohbijou - Wildfires - Norwegian
- Artic Monkeys - My propeller - British
- The Black Seeds - Slingshot - New Zealand
That's all for now, but there is more than that in the Rack. Usually what I do is google the band and find out where they are from, you would be quite surprised about the nationality of your favorite bands.
Later this week I will try to post the playlist of the oncoming Radio shows so that you can follow up what you listen that you liked. If you have questions, suggestions, songs you want to hear or even a possible special participation as a guest DJ, let me know by e-mailing at anprates@gmail.com
